The Real McCoy
ProhibitionIn 1923 two businessmen and Scottish artist James McBey had an idea to break the prohibition laws and supply top class whisky in America.
Thus 'Cutty Sark' whiskey was born.
Captain William McCoy, smuggled 'Cutty Sark' whisky during the Prohibition era of the 1920's. Captain McCoys impeccable reputation for fairness and dealing in only the finest, genuine and unadulterated liquor gave rise to it being called.
"The Real McCoy".

HistoryHistorically, the trade winds have been used by captains of sailing ships to cross the world's oceans for centuries, and enabled European empire expansion into the Americas and trade routes to become established across the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.
Clipper RaceIn 1872, the clipper ship 'Thermopylae' raced the clipper 'Cutty Sark' from Shanghai back to London.
Result'Thermopylae' won by seven days after the 'Cutty Sark' lost her rudder while leading the race. From 1882 onward, 'Thermopylae' took part in the Australian wool trade; however, on this route the 'Cutty Sark' proved faster.
Made in ScotlandBoth ships were built in Scotland in Aberdeen and Dumbarton.
Robert Louis StevensonAt this time a young Scot Robert Louis Stevenson was studying in Edinburgh and was inspired by the nautical daring of both these crews and adventure at sea.
